A lot of our renters wonder whether or not it is possible to get to the Harborwalk Village in Destin by Street Legal Golf Cart.
Legally speaking yes you can get to Harborwalk by Street Legal Golf Cart.
If you are staying on Scenic 98, you would have to take Hutchinson St. to the Destin Commons. From there, you will take Commons Dr. to the Airport Rd. intersection where you will make a right. From there you can take any of the residential streets all the way to Stalhman Ave. From there, you cross Highway 98 at the light and pull into the public parking at the Harborwalk.
We Do Not Recommend Taking a Golf Cart to Harborwalk Village
While yes, it is legal to get to Harborwalk by golf cart. We do not recommend it because it is very dangerous. Both Commons Dr. and Airport Rd. do have speed limits of 35 MPH or less. Traffic tends to fly on these roads.
We tell our renters that if they wish to go to Harborwalk Village they should take a car or Uber.
Golf carts are incredibly fun to drive down beach roads like Scenic 98 where traffic is slower and the pace is more relaxed. But they can be extremely dangerous on busier, faster, more high-traffic roads.
