Located along the breathtaking Emerald Coast of Northwest Florida, Seagrove Beach is a charming coastal destination that captivates visitors with its natural beauty and tranquil ambiance. Nestled amidst a picturesque cove, Seagrove Beach stretches across a mile-and-a-half of pristine shoreline, embraced by a lush grove of windswept trees from which it derives its name. This enchanting beach community boasts a delightful blend of historic beach homesteads and modern cottages, harmoniously coexisting amidst a verdant canopy of oaks, magnolias, hickories, and sand pines. Beyond the beach, Seagrove offers a diverse array of activities, from immersing in the natural wonders of Point Washington State Forest to indulging in the vibrant beachside shops and restaurants lining Scenic Highway 30A.

The Difference Between a Street Legal Golf Cart and a Golf Cart

Golf Cart

  • Primarily designed for recreational use, specifically navigating golf courses.
  • Not equipped for road use; typically lacks safety features like seat belts, mirrors, and headlights.
  • Speed is usually limited to about 15 miles per hour.
  • Not required to have a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) as they are not intended for road use.
  • Operation on public roads is generally restricted or illegal, depending on local regulations.

Street Legal Golf Cart (Low Speed Vehicle – LSV)

Street Legal Golf Carts are equipped with additional safety features necessary for road travel
  • Seat belts
  • Rearview mirrors
  • Headlights
  • Taillights and turn signals
  • Has a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), like other road-legal vehicles
  • Capable of speeds between 20 to 25 miles per hour to keep up with traffic on local roads.
  • Legal to operate on most public roads with speed limits of 35 mph or less.
  • Must be registered and insured, similar to other road vehicles.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license to operate (since we are a rental company its similar to renting a car, we require all of our renters to be 21+ years of age with a valid license, you can see our policies here)

Things to know before you rent a Golf Cart in Seagrove Beach

Can I have a Golf Cart in/at this community/property? That is the most important question you can ask your property manager/owner that you booked before you reserve a Street Legal Golf Cart Rental. Some communities in Seagrove like Summers Edge (N & S Ryan St) have a complete ban on Rental Golf Carts. Other communities such as The Legacy Condos right across from the Tom Thumb Station do not allow vacationers to charge Electric Golf Carts. So while the community doesn’t have a ban on Electric Golf Carts per se, you can’t charge them in the community which means you need to rent a Gas Golf Cart if you are staying at The Legacy Condos. If you can’t get a straight answer from your property manager/property owner call us and we will get you one.

Where you can drive a Street Legal Golf Cart in Seagrove Beach

  • Anywhere on 30A
  • Can explore almost all neighborhood streets in Seagrove
  • Can take the Street Legal Cart to Publix in the WaterColor Crossings
  • Can’t go past the Naturewalk Community on 395
  • Can’t drive on North or South Ryan St
  • Can’t drive on Sidewalks, Bike Paths, Utility Paths, or the Beach

Where can you park a Golf Cart in Seagrove

Because all of the Golf Carts you rent in Seagrove or across 30A are Street Legal the same parking regulations that apply to your car apply to your Street Legal Golf Cart Rental.

You can park a Golf Cart in any parking spot that you could park a regular vehicle in. As long as the space doesn’t say No Parking or No Golf Carts/LSVs you are allowed to park there.

Exceptions to this rule along 30A are the communities of Alys Beach and Rosemary Beach those are no Golf Cart/LSV communities.

Choosing Between a Gas or Electric Golf Cart

Picking between a gas or electric golf cart for your Seagrove Beach adventure? Here’s a simple guide. If you’re staying in a condo, go for a gas golf cart. Condos often lack charging spots for electric carts, plus they usually don’t allow charging. Plan to zip up and down 30A all day? A gas cart is your best bet. But if you’re just cruising locally, like popping over to Seaside, WaterColor, or Grayton Beach, an electric cart will do just fine.

Difference between a Gas an Electric Street Legal Golf Cart

Gas carts are the long-distance champs. They can cover around 200 miles on a full tank. Their downside? They can be a bit jerky at slow speeds and they’re definitely louder. Plus, they don’t pick up speed as quickly as electric carts.

On the other hand, our Lithium Electric Carts can travel a nifty 27-30 miles on a full charge. They’re quiet and have a much faster acceleration. But, because its Electric you will have to charge it, and it does limit how far you can realistically travel on a single charge.

From our experience most of our customers truly don’t need a Gas Golf Cart for their vacations, if you aren’t sure give us a call and we can always guide you through the decision making process.
